7de Laan Celebrates 10 Years

This year was a milestone for 7de Laan as we celebrated our 10th Birthday. Over 2000 episodes have been written and recorded of the lives and loves of Hillsides favourite residents.

The 7de Laan residents love to throw a big party and certainly the cast and crew of 7de Laan are no different. A glamorous event was thrown with the theme “Red Carpet Glamour” – which was basically just an excuse to dress up! The dress code on set is casual to say the least so everyone thoroughly enjoyed putting on their finest for a change.

In keeping with the theme of the event, awards were handed out, complete with Oscar Statues and the categories included “Best Dressed on Set”, “Most Curious”, “Loudest”, “Best Confidant” and “Most Gullible.” Nominations and voting was done by the crew before the event and tremendous fun was had as the awards were handed out to lots of good humoured cheers.

Danie Odendaal and Annie Basson – the show’s original producers – also honoured the crew and cast members who had been with the production since the beginning. Everyone was very touched by their speech – especially seeing as how Danie Odendaal hates speaking in public and up till now has always respectfully declined making a speech.

Hennie Jacobs (Diederik) and Christo Davids (Errol) were the MC’s for the evening and they gave a few brilliant impersonations of the four Directors who each have very distinct styles and idiosyncrasies.

Of course after speeches and a delicious dinner, the dance floor opened and everyone partied long into the night. And while we all celebrated our hard work and effort – we all said a thank you to our loyal viewers who made ten years possible.
